MASKANDI star Khuzani “King Khuba” Mpungose has ventured into the cargo business.
Khuzani, regarded as the Maskandi King due to his numerous achievements in music, has purchased a horse and double-trailer truck known as Impolompolo in KZN.
The Angidlali Nezingane hitmaker has become the first maskandi musician to own a horse and trailer truck in maskandi music history.
Messages of congratulations are pouring in for Khuzani as many musicians and fans alike took to social media to applaud him.
Khuzani, from Nkandla, KZN, who recently returned from a tour in Dubai and New York with the Clermont Choir, told Daily Sun entering the trucking business was a long-held dream.
“This is the way to prepare for my future by being in the trucking business while I’m still on top of the music game.
“I know one day I’ll stop singing and need something to support me financially and not become a charity case,” he said.
Khuzani encourages other musicians to also start businesses like him while they’re still popular in the music industry.
He joins his cousin, rapper Big Zulu, who recently purchased trucks and also ventured into the trucking business.
“It was a great move for Big Zulu to venture into the trucking business. When he started, I was already planning to enter the trucking business, and was further inspired,” he said.

Khuzani recently released his new 19-track album, titled Angidlali Nezingane, and fans have turned the song title into Ngena Kulayini, starting the Ngena Kulayini challenge.
He has been a leader in rewriting maskandi history and breaking boundaries.
Khuzani is the first maskandi musician to fill the iconic and gigantic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, home of the 2010 Fifa World Cup, with his #Gcwalisa iMabhida Maskandi Concert, attended by President Cyril Ramaphosa in 2019.
He’s also the first maskandi musician to win the much-contested Ukhozi FM Ingoma Ehlukasisa Unyaka Top 10 twice, in 2020/21 and 2023/24, before announcing he would no longer participate.
Khuzani is also the first maskandi singer to organise the Maskandi Picnic, Gcwalisa Spring Picnic All White, where he books maskandi musicians and other genre artists since 2022.
He has won 22 awards, including the Samas.
