Ukhozi FM presenter Siya Mhlongo will appear in court on 12 February.
UKHOZI FM presenter Siya Mhlongo’s victim wants justice.
The 29-year-old man, who opened a case of assault with intent to cause serious bodily harm against the presenter, said, as things stand, he wants justice.
This is after many people believe that the future of the presenter to be back on air is in the hands of the victim.
Siya’s future with Mzansi’s number one radio station remains uncertain after being off-air since the case in September 2024.
Inside sources told Daily Sun that he will be scheduled back on air after he’s cleared by the court.
Siya, who was presenting the night show, Ubusuku Obuhle, is accused of assaulting and stabbing the victim, who claimed to be his boyfriend.
After the incident happened in Durban on 31 August 2024, Siya trended after the victim posted a video with blood on his face while Siya was asking him to get back in his car to drive him to the nearest hospital.
Siya will appear in the Durban Magistrates Court on 12 February, where the court will start with a pre-trial conference, giving him and a victim an opportunity to decide if they’re settling or going for a trial.
The victim, who asked not to be named, told Daily Sun that as things stand, he wants justice for what happened to him.

“At the moment, I won’t talk much because the matter is still to be heard at court, and I can’t be ahead about what will happen in court.
“We will communicate with him and take the amicable decision during the pre-trial conference, but as things stand, I want justice,” he said.
After the assault incident, Siya (41) was arrested and released on warning in 2024. He has been attending court, with the case being postponed several times.
He last appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 8 January, and he appeared at the same court on 6 September 2024, as well as on 27 November 2024.
Siya asked not to comment, saying the matter is sub judice.
SABC head of communications Mmoni Seapolelo didn’t confirm or deny that Ukhozi FM will schedule Siya back on air after he has been cleared by the court.
“The SABC has an employer/employee relationship with Mr Mhlongo and as a matter of principle, does not engage on employer/employee related matters in the public space,” she said.
