Tyla says she’s happy for the opportunity Showmax is giving her.

SHOWMAX is set to make history with Tyla’s live stream concert.

Fans in 44 African countries are in for a treat as Showmax will live-stream Tyla’s performance from the SunBet Arena in Tshwane on Saturday, 18 January 2025.

The 23-year-old Grammy-winning amapiano superstar, known for her remarkable talent, both as a singer and dancer, is from Edenvale in Ekurhuleni.

She’s been dominating music charts, performing at sold-out shows worldwide, and collecting prestigious awards since her breakthrough after touring with US star Chris Brown in 2023.

Yatish Narsi, chief marketing officer at Showmax and MultiChoice South Africa, announced that this would mark Africa’s first live concert by a streaming platform.

“This is our first live-streamed entertainment event, and we’re excited to bring Tyla’s incredible homecoming concert to audiences across Africa. It shows our commitment to delivering world-class experiences to our viewers,” Yatish said.

Tyla, the youngest African to win a Grammy, will perform hits from her debut album TYLA, which has amassed over 1,6 billion streams worldwide.

Tyla, who is often referred to as the Queen of Popiano, said: “Tygers! I hardly get to be home, so this concert is special. I’m so happy Showmax is live-streaming it so everyone can join. Let’s ROCKKK together!”

For those who missed her sold-out shows in Cape Town and Pretoria, this live stream offers a perfect opportunity to witness Tyla’s magical tour.

She’s collaborated with numerous talented artists, including Arya Starr, Garth von Glehn, Kooldrink, DJ Lag, and Tems, among others.

Her recently released single Push 2 Start, released on 11 October 2024, continues to make waves on a global stage.

The live-stream is a significant milestone for Showmax, which has experienced a 50% increase in paying subscribers over the past year.

Powered by Peacock’s advanced streaming technology, the platform aims to provide a seamless experience for fans, cementing its leadership in African and global streaming.

In the past year, Tyla has won several awards, including the South African Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, two BET Awards, and three MTV Europe Music Awards.
