TRUCK drivers travelling to Mozambique are uncertain about their safety.
Innocent Magasela, who is travelling to the country to deliver goods, told Daily Sun he doesn’t know whether he will be able to come back to South Africa before Christmas.
Innocent, who frequents the area often, said although there hasn’t been much action in the past days, he is scared they will target them when the conflict starts again.
“I am afraid to cross to Mozambique, but I don’t have a choice because I have to work. I don’t know whether I will be able to come back home without encountering any problems. I wish the problems are resolved soon so that we can work freely without any fear, ” he said.
Another traveller who is going on holiday added that he planned to visit the country and said he will continue with his holiday and hopes nothing happens.

“I am going on holiday and I hope I will enjoy myself. I am not looking forward to any chaos,” he said.
Border Management Authority Commissioner, Dr Michael Masiapato visited the Lebombo Border Post to oversee the facilitation of legitimate travel and trade while addressing any operational challenges.
He said there are less South Africans crossing through Mozambique due to the political unrest.
“Everything is going according to plan. In the past hours over 1 000 trucks have been processed out of South Africa into Mozambique. Everything is going well and according to plan. The corridor is well managed by the Mpumalanga traffic police and cross border road agency together with Road Traffic Management Cooperation,” he said.
Masiapato said they will monitor the border until 25 December.
