Spitch Nzawumbi says he loves hosting Unfollowed.
FORMER Yilungelo Lakho presenter Spitch Nzawumbi says it feels great to be back home.
Spitch (35), who has relocated to Dubai where he works in real estate, returns to film season 2 of the Showmax show, Unfollowed.
The new season starts on 27 November, and he interviewed Pastor Mboro, Pitch Black Afro, Mel Viljoen and many others.
He spoke to Daily Sun about the show and coming back home.
“I’m still very much based in Dubai. I flew down to South Africa to shoot and returned to my stable. South Africa will always be home, but home away from home is still Dubai,” he said.
Spitch said his fans have been begging him to return to presenting.
“It’s been 10 years since I hosted my first talk show on SABC1, Yilungelo Lakho. A door I’ll forever be grateful for that opened many other doors for me in broadcasting. Over the years, as I evolved on radio and corporate, my viewers begged for my return.
“This felt like a full circle moment. A celebration of a milestone doing what I love but also because the show fits into my style of broadcasting,” the presenter said.

The trailer for this season was released, and from the video, most of the guests were attacking Spitch. However, that didn’t scare him.
“I’m a qualified and seasoned journalist, before anything. I’m used to pressure and controversy. In fact, I always push boundaries beyond limits because that’s where you get the truth. In this season of Unfollowed, I was compelled by the truth. The story of the day, while affording my guests an opportunity to share theirs.
“This season is different from the first. We didn’t just focus on A-listers or people who have been cancelled on social media, but newsmakers who got people talking. Our guests are diverse, the delivery is different, and viewers will be spoilt for choice. Every episode is different, and every guest brings a different flavour,” he said.
Spitch replaced Thembekile Mrototo as the host.
He mentioned that he enjoyed it immensely and expressed his eagerness to do it again, stating he’d gladly host another season.
“Broadcasting runs in my veins. Unfollowed is a show like no other in South Africa. Being able to deliver it to viewers now is an honour,” Spitch said.
