CRAZY Entertainers from the north of Tshwane say they have a lot of joke scripts in store to bring laughter to the entire world.
The group was founded in 2024.
Philip “Pastor A” Hlatshwayo (37) from Soshanguve said looking back to where it all began in 2002, there’s more to come.
He said their excitement comes from performing on stage.
“Jokes have made us famous, and we treat jokes as our babies,” he said.
Philip said as kids, they were always funny, cracking jokes ekasi, never realising that God was guiding them towards something significant, to entertain the world.
He mentioned that the first joke that made them famous in December 2002 at Church Square in Tshwane was called Tokoloshe to Technology.
Philip said the joke has boosted their popularity.
Initially performing for a small crowd, today they’re a household name.
“Everyone knows us in Africa, especially in Southern Africa. Fun jokes make us travel. We’re unique, and many people love our crazy jokes,” he said.
He mentioned there’s always a happy ending to their performances, especially when people believe they’re fighting, but it’s just a joke.
“We’re loyal to each other. We’re family.”
He commented that the uniqueness of sharing jokes keeps people coming back for more. The father of four said his family understands that he tells jokes.
Another member, Thato “Ntate Modiri” Maphanga (35), from Soshanguve said he won’t cut his beard because it earns him a lot of money.
“Old women propose to me. They think I’m a madala. I don’t want gogos, but they should remain my fans. I’m a professional entertainer and happily married,” he said.
The father of three noted that they’ve bought property because of their funny jokes.

“I’ll die as an entertainer. The love and passion for entertainment keep me going.”
He said they’re always busy with performances on Saturdays and Sundays, with people also booking them individually.
Thato said they’re stand-up comedians who also teach people how to do comedy.
“We’ve learned the hard way in this industry, especially due to bad management,” said Thato.
They stated that the other member of Crazy Entertainers, Patrick “Senzeni” Khoba, is in Limpopo doing solo performances.
