RESIDENTS’ roofs blown away.
Several families are counting their losses after their roofs were blown away by a “tornado”.
One family from Mashemong in Thembisa, Ekurhuleni lost their roof, while another roof was blown into their yard.
So, the family doesn’t know whose roof it is and whether to use it or not.
Yard owner, Michael Kgathiane said the strong winds uprooted a big tree in the area.

“The wind was very strong, and we pray it doesn’t come back. The shack used by a tenant is also gone,” he said.
But some families managed to raise money to buy roofs.
“It is only temporary because we cannot live in roofless homes. We had to borrow money because this is an emergency. We cannot wait on the municipality because we don’t know when they will provide the roof they promised us,” said a family.
Another affected homeowner, Phineas Magolego is using a sail to prevent water from getting into his bedroom.
“We were promised, but we will see if the municipality will keep its promises,” he said.
Another resident,  Nhlakanipho Sambo said: “These days the weather is very unpredictable. These tornadoes are becoming a norm and it is scary.”
