LEGENDARY TV producer Duma Ndlovu is breathing a sigh of relief.
This after the court permitted him to travel overseas.
Through his lawyer, Jenna Maxwell, Ndlovu asked the court to permit him to honour his work obligations in America.
Maxwell said her client had already booked to travel to America before he was arrested.
Maxwell presented the application for the bail conditions to be relaxed when Ndlovu and his two co-accused, Rodney Mutsharini and Maxwell Mloyi, appeared before the Joburg Specialised Commercial Crime Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court in Ekurhuleni for suspected fraud and tax evasion on Monday, 11 November.
Maxwell said her client Ndlovu must attend the Lion’s King productions in the United States of America in January, and the current bail conditions are making it difficult for her client to attend to his obligations.
“My client made bookings for this trip in June 2024 before he was arrested.
“On the day he’s flying to Ethiopia, and from Ethiopia, he’s going to fly to America,” Maxwell said.

She said her client is not a flight risk because he has six kids, including a wife in Mzansi.
“My client’s bail conditions are that he should not communicate with the witnesses, he should surrender his passport and should report to the Sandton Police Station on a weekly basis. He should personally appear in the courtroom during court proceedings. He has to notify the court if his residential address changes.
“He is willing to adhere to the bail conditions, but it won’t be fair if they’re preventing him from honouring his obligations,” Maxwell said.
Magistrate Ashika Ramlal said they’ll only amend the bail conditions, which are three and five for the duration of his trip to America, where he’ll be living from 12 January to 27 January 2025.
“The condition of bail five required the accused to surrender his passport, and now his passport will be returned to him, and the condition of bail three indicated that the accused was supposed to report to the Sandton Police Station twice a week, during the duration of his trip to America he doesn’t have to report to the police station,” said Ramlal.
The magistrate said that after the duration of the trip, the bail conditions will be reinstated.
Ndlovu and his two co-accused will return to court on 2 April 2025.
