KWAITO musician Professor says he’s enjoying his legendary status because there’s no pressure.
While many young stars were releasing their hit songs for the festive season, Professor waited to release his new music a month later.
Professor, whose real name is Mkhonzeni Langa (46) from Umlazi in the south of Durban, has released his long-awaited eight-track EP, called with his real name, Mkhonzeni.
He said being a legend has its advantages.
“There’s no pressure on me to release music at a specific time,” said Professor.
He said his new EP features many young stars, including Kabza De Small, Murumba Pitch, Okmalumkoolkat, and Unathi Nkayi.
Professor, who has been in the music industry for about three decades, last released an album titled Journey in 2019. He told Daily Sun that after all he’s been through, he decided to be himself and titled his EP with his name.

“I’m showing that I’m now being myself, with no pressure from the music industry. Now that I’ve grown, I have a different purpose. I’m enjoying my freedom in this new chapter as a legend, where I can release music without any pressure,” said Professor.
He said he collaborated with musicians he enjoys working with and who also appreciate his music.
“Our collaboration is about mutual appreciation. There are more featured artists on my unreleased songs, but I won’t mention them now.”
