THE EFF in the Thabo Mofutsanyana region of the Free State has criticised the MK party for what they termed “political masquerading”.

The EFF claims MK party members gathered unknown individuals and represented them as new recruits who allegedly abandoned the EFF for the MK party, in an effort to mislead the public.

The party allegedly outfitted the individuals in new attire, creating an illusion that they were legitimate EFF members who had defected to the MK party.

A dramatic scene unfolded as alleged EFF members were seen burning EFF T-shirts, symbolising their supposed departure from the party and joining the MK party.

This development marks a significant shift in regional politics, with the MK party gaining momentum while the EFF faces potential membership losses.

EFF regional chairman, Mohau Molwelwe, said this sparked controversy and questions MK party’s tactics and motivations.

Molwelwe accused MK party leader in the Free State, Vusi Tshabalala, of ‘deceitful politics’.

“Tshabalala went to an extent of hiring drunkards and nyaope addicts to masquerade as our former members. We’ve only recognised four people out of that number. We won’t remain silent when a conman and thug burns our T-shirts and calls that politics. Many ANC members have defected to their stokvel without such parades and burning of T-shirts,” Molwelwe said.

In an interview with Daily Sun at Phuthaditjhaba Park during MK party’s Green Picnic, Vusi Tshabalala claimed: “We’ve welcomed 15 former EFF members. We don’t use the media to spread lies. These members are vocal leaders who significantly contributed to the EFF’s growth.

“They’re movers and shakers. We don’t understand why people claim we only welcomed four members. What happened at Petsana reflects the truth.”

Tshabalala also emphasised that the MK party is prepared to take over all Free State municipalities in the coming municipal elections.
