IT’S time for a journey of faith and unity.
As the revered Shembe members set off on their sacred pilgrimage to the holy mountain of Khenana, political parties across Mzansi extend warm wishes to accompany them on their 60-kilometre spiritual journey, starting on Sunday, 5 January.
“UMkhonto weSizwe Party sends its well wishes to all members of iBandla lamaNazaretha under the leadership of iNkosi NyaziLweZulu, who are undertaking a Holy Walk to Mt Khenana on the 5th January 2025,” said party spokesman Nhlamulo Ndhlela.

“We as uMkhonto weSizwe Party fully embrace and celebrate the role played by iBandla lamaNazaretha in the spiritual wellbeing of our society,” said Ndhlela.
For more than 100 years, iBandla lamaNazaretha has demonstrated with tremendous consistency, instilled and taught the values of honour, love, respect and ubuntu to each other.
Ndhlela noted that this year’s Holy Walk focuses on prayer against the nation’s high murder rate and mass killings.
“We encourage all faith-based organisations in South Africa to, join in prayer against these societal challenges,” he said.
Support for the Shembe members was further expressed by Inkatha Freedom Party President Velenkosini Hlabisa, who wished them a fulfilling journey filled with spiritual renewal.
“May the faith and resilience of the congregants be strengthened as they make their way to this sacred site,” Hlabisa said, honoring the significant role of the Nazareth Baptist Church in its community.
