Economic Freedom Fighter (EFF) members trickling in at the UJ campus in Soweto to register for the party’s 3rd National People’s Assembly scheduled to begin this Thursday afternoon, 12 December.
UMKHONTO Wesizwe (MK) party has wished the EFF well for its elective conference.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) members are gathering at the UJ campus in Soweto to register for the party’s 3rd National People’s Assembly, scheduled to begin on Thursday afternoon, 12 December, and conclude on Sunday, 15 December.
The party is set to elect its new leadership for the next five years and strategise on how to recover from a challenging year. Among the challenges faced were key members leaving for MK, creating animosity between the two parties.
Despite these issues, MK has extended good wishes to the EFF. In its statement, MK said they commend the consistency and resilience of the EFF, who have been around for 11 years.

MK spokesman Nhlamulo Ndhlela said: “As the progressive caucus, we stand united in dismantling the imperial system and will continue to fight for the reclamation of our dignity, land, mineral resources and the nationalisation of mines. On the occasion of the National People’s Assembly, we would like to further express our well-wishes to our partner in the progressive agenda of the total emancipation of our people.”
African Transformation Movement (ATM) leader Vuyo Zungula also offered support to the red berets.
“We extend our best wishes to the EFF ahead of the NPA. A stronger, more united EFF is crucial to advancing the struggle for economic freedom.
“A united and strong EFF translates into a solid Progressive Caucus; this principle cannot and must not be compromised,” he said.
