MORE and more families have fallen victim to losing their loved ones simultaneously due to the heartless murders taking place in their homes.
These mass killings have seen an increase, especially in the Eastern Cape’s rural villages where families are killed in droves for reasons only known by the perpetrators.

In Khayelitsha in the Harare area of Cape Town, residents were shocked after eight people were shot and killed in their kasi on Wednesday morning, 17 April.
The bodies of four men and one woman were found on Ncumo Street in Harare following a shooting incident at about 6am.
Another man’s body was found not far from where five other bodies were discovered. Two other bodies were also found on Feza Street, a distance away but within the same vicinity.
In Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape, the mass shooting death toll climbed to 18.
Cops confirmed that following a shooting incident in Ngobozana Village, Lusikisiki, 17 people died on 27 September, and on the 29th, another person died after being hospitalised.
According to police spokeswoman Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the matter is still under investigation. More than 13 people were shot and killed in one house. The victims were 12 women and one man. In another homestead, four people were also killed.
A total of 15 women and three men were killed. Four suspects have been arrested, and the case continues in court.
In another incident in KZN, police found 18 cartridges in the Khambule homestead in Highflats, where seven family members, including kids aged five, 11, and 12, were murdered.

It’s said the alleged killers knocked on the outside room of one of the family members on 11 September and forced him to knock on the main house where the entire family was watching TV.
It’s suspected that the motive for the killing could be a family feud and an alleged tender matter which the family was involved in. It’s also alleged that the mother knew their lives were in danger and asked relatives to live with them for a while.
A relative, who wasn’t home at the time of the attack, said she received a call at about 8pm alerting her about the shooting. She then rushed home.
KZN police responded to reports of a shooting and upon arrival at the scene, seven bodies were found lying in a pool of blood in the living room. It’s reported that neighbours heard gunshots and when they went to investigate, they found three women aged 35, 38, and 55, and a 48-year-old man and three kids aged five, 11, and 12 shot and killed.
In another incident, five family members were shot and killed while asleep in Bityi in the Eastern Cape on Friday night, 18 October.
The attack happened at about 8.30pm at Ncenjana location, Mthentu Administrative Area, outside Mthatha. Police confirmed the mass killing, stating that a search was underway for the perpetrators. Information on hand indicated that the family was asleep in two different houses in a yard.
The parents (husband and wife) were sleeping in a rondavel when two unknown men entered and fatally shot them.
In a Cape Town incident, six patrollers were killed, and four injured. This after eight armed men shot them in Qumbu in the Eastern Cape on Sunday night, 6 October.
Police said the patrollers were ambushed at Lungongozo Junior Secondary School in Tina Falls, Qumbu.
It’s alleged that on Sunday, 6 October 2024, at about 10.45 pm, a group of at least eight men, armed with rifles and handguns, opened fire on a group of community patrollers.
