A snooker game turns deadly in Mpumalanga.
The popular game often played in taverns and shebeens turned deadly at Violet Bank tavern in Bushbuckridge when an argument spiralled into gunfire, leaving a man injured.
Mpumalanga Police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli reported that on Thursday, 26 December, an apparent dispute broke out during a snooker game.

A patron managed to settle the fray briefly but tension persisted. In a shocking twist, the suspect pulled a firearm and shot another patron before disappearing into the night.
The wounded man received immediate medical attention at a local hospital. Authorities didn’t waste a moment.
By the following day, Friday 27 December, they had tracked the suspect to Acornhoek.
There, he was arrested during traditional rituals, while in possession of a firearm and seventeen rounds of ammunition.
The 26-year-old faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, alongside attempted murder. He is expected to appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrates Court on Monday, 30 December 2024.
