Kat Sinivasan will host The Catch on Mzansi Magic.

TV presenter Kat Sinivasan is thrilled to be thrown into the deep end.

He’s just secured a role as a presenter for Mzansi Magic’s upcoming reality dating competition, The Catch, which is a departure from his usual gigs.

The 34-year-old former YoTV presenter spoke to the Daily Sun about the show.

“It’s a competition reality dating series where there are eight ladies and eight guys. But the focus is on the woman. The mission is to find the perfect man. This is like the real world where women look for their Mr Right, only they are doing it in this space in one house.

“However, there will be sneaky impostors posing as eligible bachelors. The ladies need to work together to figure out who the real guy is and who the imposters are. They also stay in a house where they need to eliminate each other and still have to face each other. So, they go through a lot. Thankfully, they get therapy which helps them get through the process,” he said.

Kat said the plot twist about the R500 000 prize win will leave people shocked.

“If the lady finds Mr Right, they get to take the prize home. But they choose someone who’s not right and is an imposter, the imposter walks away with the money himself,” he said.

Kat said he loved that he had to be challenged.

“The craziest thing is that I love reality TV shows and dating shows like Survivor, Love Island and even Real Housewives. So, my getting this opportunity was exciting.

“What I loved about this experience was that it was a challenge. I usually do shows that are different from this. I do calmer shows, so I was thrown outside of my comfort zone. It feels great that I’m being challenged this way. I had to come up with a new style for presenting this show and it was fun,” he said.

The presenter said Mzansi would love the show.

“South Africa has been buying foreign show concepts for a while. I’m glad that this is an original concept. It’s got Mzansi written all over it, we kept it original,” he said.

Catch the premiere of the show on 16 February at 9pm.
