Actor Thulani Mtsweni makes shocking revelations.
SOME started their acting careers at a young age, while others found breakthrough success very early in their lives.Â
However, this actor had to persevere to make it. After struggling for many years, he achieved his breakthrough after 16 years.
Actor Thulani Mtsweni shared insights about his career during an interview on DJ Sbu’s podcast recently.
Thulani is known for his popular roles in major drama series such as Isidingo, Isibaya, iNumber Number, and Gomora.
He said he used to move from one friend’s home to another.
“That’s how I lived my life until I got an opportunity to study at Wits. I attended university when I was already older. I was about 30 years old, and the university saw potential in me and offered me a bursary,” he said.
While studying and doing theatre on the side, he landed a gig with Isidingo.
“The following year, in 2017, I auditioned for Isidingo and got the role,” he said.

Thulani said that he got his biggest break after years of effort and that his life was changing.
“I felt like God was helping me, because I could get kasi stories in between, and He was saying to me ‘relax, I have you,” he said.
Thulani said everyone’s story is inspiring, especially for artists.
“Don’t be quick to tell your story. We all have a story, and I’m glad I proved myself with acting rather than rushing to share my story. My advice is for people to prove with their talents that they are actors,” he said.
He said theatre has always been a home for him.
“If theatre paid as much as TV, I’d still be there. At the end of the day, I was trying to tell a story, take care of my family, and live a good life. This is my job,” he said.
