ANOTHER SANDF soldier has succumbed to injuries sustained during the Goma attack in the DRC.
According to the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), the soldier died in hospital. This brings the total number of SANDF soldiers who have died after being attacked by the M23 rebels to 14.
Meanwhile, the army has released the names of the soldiers who died during the attack by the M23 rebels in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) a week ago.
The names of our fallen gallant soldiers are as follows:

SANDF spokesman Simphiwe Dlamini said these soldiers were part of the SANDF contingent deployed to the region as part of both the Southern African Development Community Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (SAMIDRC) and the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).
“They displayed extraordinary courage in their confrontation with the M23 rebels who had attacked their base in Sake,” he stated.
He further mentioned that Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Angie Motshekga, and Defence officials, including the Deputy Ministers of Defence and Military Veterans, Major General Bantu Holomisa, have sent their heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and the entire defence family.
