DJ Mpho Raiza says he has shared the stage with legends like Oskido, Black Coffee, Glen Lewis, Christos, and Ralf Gum.
DJ Mpho Raiza has been dominating the music for over two decades.
The 40-year-old DJ, whose real name is Mpho Bhengu, has been a household name in KZN’s house music scene.
He told Daily Sun that his journey hasn’t been smooth.
“The industry is not easy to break into. You think you know how it works, but once you’re in, you realise it takes real hard work,” he said.
Despite the challenges, he has built a strong career, performing at top Durban venues such as Mojos Car Wash & Shisanyama, Club Tilt, and Wave Café Sport Bar.
He has also shared the stage with legends like Oskido, Black Coffee, Glen Lewis, Christos, and Ralf Gum. However, when it comes to collaborations, he admits that while he has worked with these giants in event spaces, they haven’t hit the studio together yet.
“I haven’t collaborated with them music-wise, but I’ve worked with them through events. I run my own events, so we’ve done a lot together in that space,” he said.

He credits the industry’s veterans for pushing him to take control of his career.
“At first, I was waiting for things to come to me, but the advice I got was, ‘You need to start doing things for yourself’. That changed everything for me,” he said.
Now, he’s stepping into the spotlight as a recording artist. His debut single, Ngyabonga Nkosi, features a three-step Afrobeat rhythm, a rich chord progression, and gospel-inspired lyrics.
“People need to know that I create beautiful, groove music. I’ve been part of big festivals and exclusive events. But this year, my focus is more on music. And I’m taking my sound international,” he said.
With more 23 years in the game, for DJ Mpho Raiza, the journey continues.
