A bus accident that happened in Worcester in the Western Cape left eight people dead while 22 fight for life.
A BUS crash in Worcester, Western Cape, has left eight people dead and 22 injured.
The accident occurred around 7am near Roux Park.
The bus, on its way from the Eastern Cape to Cape Town, lost control and overturned. Bodies were strewn everywhere, and some passengers trapped under the bus.
A passing motorist described the scene: “It was horrific. Some victims were trapped, others flung out through windows, groaning in pain or were lifeless. Thankfully, emergency services arrived quickly.”
Western Cape’s MEC for Mobility, Isaac Sileku, expressed condolences: “This tragedy is heartbreaking. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased and injured. We commend first responders for their swift action under difficult conditions. The Western Cape government will aid all those affected.”
MEC for Social Development, Jaco Londt, dispatched social workers to support affected kids.

MEC for Health and Wellness, Mireille Wenger, praised emergency teams: “Their quick response was crucial. We mourn the loss of eight lives and wish the injured quick recovery. Condolences to the grieving families.”
With minors involved, MEC for Social Development, Jaco Londt, dispatched social workers to support affected kids.
Drivers have been urged to observe rule of the road in the festive season.
“Social workers were on site early for trauma counselling. We co-ordinated with the Eastern Cape to support affected families. DSD staff aided in transporting passengers. We stand ready to assist further,” Londt said.
Sileku called for road safety: “As we’re nearing the holiday peak, prioritise road safety. Let’s work together to prevent further tragedies.”
