— Ntebatse Masipa (@ntebatse_SNL24) December 19, 2024A MOB attack has left neighbours divided.
While one family is reeling in the pain of losing their loved one, other families feel a sense of relief that they have rid themselves of someone who made their lives difficult by stealing from them.
The family of Teboho Lentsa (25) in Phomolong near Thembisa, Ekurhuleni, described him as a good person, but neighbours said he wasn’t a saint.
They claimed he used to terrorise them and often left behind trails of evidence at places he stole from, which they showed to Daily Sun.
At one family’s house, which preferred to remain anonymous, he left behind his bag containing clothes and nyaope syringes.

At another house, he left his hat, while at another one, he left a knife. Additionally, a dustbin he used to carry stolen items was kept as evidence by another family.
Teboho died on Sunday, 15 December, after he allegedly chased a resident with a knife. Fed up residents apparently grabbed him and beat him severely, leading to his death from injuries.

“His family painted him as a saint, but he used to terrorise us,” said one victim.
“I heard rumours that my three children and I were involved. I was getting married. How could I leave my in-laws and husband to chase after Teboho, especially in heels and a long dress? It doesn’t add up. His family is now intimidating us,” said a homeowner.
MaSithole showed Daily Sun photos of her traditional wedding, held on Saturday and Sunday.

“It could have been anybody because Teboho was stealing from all of us. He stole from my yard four times, even selling some items at a local scrapyard. He took three of my aluminium windows, stripped our car, and also took my husband’s toolbox,” she said.

His grieving mum, Jerminah Lentsa, said she wants justice for her son.
“People could have opened cases against him and had him arrested instead of taking the law into their own hands,” she said.
Jerminah admitted that her son was troublesome as he smoked nyaope. “It’s painful for any parent to see their children dying so horribly.”
Ekurhuleni district police spokeswoman Captain Nelda Sekgobela said cops are investigating a murder case.
