The suspects were bust driving in this car, which was stolen in Randfontein.
THREE suspects linked to several robberies have been bust.
The gang, who used a blue Mercedes-Benz to terrorise the community of Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni, were arrested on Sunday, 26 January.
Residents have been complaining about thieves who snatch their cellphones in the streets.
One of the locals, Thebe Mbokazi, expressed relief over the arrests.
“These suspects have been snatching cellphones from people walking in the streets. When they saw someone using their phone, they would stop their vehicle and rob the victim,” Mbokazi said.
Ekurhuleni district police spokeswoman Captain Neldah Sekgobela said that on Sunday, January 26, cops received information about a wanted car in the area.

“The vehicle with three male occupants was spotted on one of the roads in the Vosloorus policing area. The vehicle was checked and turned out to be positively stolen in Randfontein, so the three suspects were arrested for possession of a stolen car and detained at Katlehong SAPS,” Sekgobela said.
Further investigation has linked them to two robberies in the Vosloorus area.
“Police are still investigating with the potential of adding more charges and are also searching for the fourth suspect, as the vehicle was always used by four individuals,” said Sekgobela.
The suspects face charges of possession of a suspected stolen car and theft of two cellphones.
They appeared in the Vosloorus Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 28 January, and the case has been postponed to Thursday, 6 February.
Meanwhile, cops are appealing to anyone who was a victim or has more information about these suspects with a blue Mercedes-Benz to come forward or contact Vosloorus SAPS detective branch commander Colonel Elite Mabitsela on 082 822 7752.
