A Cape Town detective is in hot water after shocking allegations of rape in a police cell on Christmas Day.
CAPE Town detective allegedly rapes woman in a cell.
The detective has been taken into custody after allegedly raping a woman inside the Malmesbury police station on Christmas Day.
The 41-year-old officer reportedly visited the victim’s home and arrested her under dubious circumstances.
Upon reaching the station, the detective claimed she had been arrested by mistake and then started drinking, urging the woman to join him. When she refused, the situation escalated tragically.

The Independent Police Investigations Directorate (IPID) spokeswoman Lizzy Shuping said: “The complaint further alleges that at the police station, the accused officer told her that she was picked up by mistake but encouraged her to drink alcohol with him. When she refused, he allegedly took off his clothes, laid on the cell mattress, and pretended to be asleep.
“As she tried to leave, the accused officer grabbed her from behind, choked her, tore her clothes, and raped her. After the ordeal, the officer allegedly dropped her off in town. A rape case has been opened, and medical reports have also been obtained.”
The detective is scheduled to appear in court on 30 December 2024.
This incident comes on the heels of another disturbing case involving a Mfuleni SAPS constable, Siyabonga Mbane, who allegedly raped a 26-year-old woman in a police cell last month.
The constable reportedly manipulated the victim into an empty cell under the guise of questioning her, where he raped her twice.
He was denied bail and remains in custody, with his case postponed to 20 February 2024 for further investigation.
