Janusz Walus stirs controversy as South African political parties voice outrage over perceived injustices following his parole.
A STORM of disapproval swirls as Mzansi’s political parties react to the deportation of Chris Hani’s assassin, Janusz Walus.
Released from parole, Walus was sent back to Poland, a move that has sparked outrage among local leaders who demand justice for the apartheid struggle hero.
The uMkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party has lashed out against the government’s decision, labeling it a severe miscarriage of justice.
MK spokesman Nhlamulo Ndhlela expressed disappointment over Walus’ failure to reveal the full truth about Hani’s murder or identify potential accomplices, claiming the situation undermines justice.

Ndhlela criticised the Constitutional Court’s ruling, attributing it to supposed “unelected judges” who he said promoted personal political agendas.
He warned of judicial overreach threatening the separation of powers, emphasizing that such decisions diminish the role of elected officials.
“The judiciary has become an unaccountable force, compromising justice on matters of national significance,” Ndhlela said.
He further denounced the ANC-led government’s role, calling the deportation an insult to the Hani family.
Similarly, the South African Communist Party (SACP) held firm in their position since the 1993 sentencing of Walus and his late co-conspirator, Clive Derby-Lewis.
Dr Alex Mohubetswane Mashilo, SACP’s spokesman, insisted the assassins should have served life sentences without parole or amnesty, condemning the parole decision as dismissive of the family’s and public’s demand for truth.
The SACP continues to push for an inquest into Hani’s assassination, seeking justice and closure for his widow, Limpho Hani, and the nation.
Mashilo emphasised the incomplete nature of justice regarding Hani’s assassination and vowed to fight for the full disclosure necessary to heal historical wounds.
