Mzansi’s top celebrities including Senzo Meyiwa, Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, and Amanda Manku’s dad’s trials to make headlines in 2025 still.
THE new year has begun, but the events of 2024 are far from over.
Several high-profile matters involving Mzansi celebrities are set to take centre stage in court this year.
Daily Sun highlights some of the key cases that will capture attention in the coming months.
The trial of Senzo Meyiwa continues on Wednesday, 8 January 2025.
Senzo, who was a South African professional footballer and played as a goalkeeper for and captained both Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League, was shot and killed in an alleged home invasion on 26 October 2014, and his case has been on trial since.
Last year, it concluded with the death of defence lawyer Advocate Thulani Mngomezulu.
The trial was postponed to this week for a special sitting to allow Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, the first accused, to confirm legal representation following the death of his lawyer.
Advocate Mngomezulu’s passing came as the state was finalising its witness list.

The Victory Lap hitmaker was brutally shot last February outside a restaurant in Durban.
After seven suspects were arrested almost a year later, the case remains unresolved due to delays caused by two suspects, Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, who were arrested in Eswatini.
The five other suspects, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, Lindani Ndimande, Siyanda Myeza, Mziwethemba Gwabeni, and Lindokuhle Ndimande, arrested in Mzansi, made multiple court appearances, with their bail applications denied.
Skeem Saam actress Amanda Manku’s dad is set to hear his fate this year as his trial begins from 10 to 21 February 2025, in the Polokwane High Court.
William Manku (53) and his co-accused, David Khoza (40), were arrested in January for allegedly murdering his wife, Gladys Manku (45), and mother-in-law, Letty Maphothoma (70).
According to the investigating officer, who was cross-examined when Manku was applying for bail, William previously confessed to only ordering hit men to shoot his mother-in-law.
