BROTHERS were gunned down in Jeffsville.
The community of Jeffsville informal settlement in Atteridgeville, Tshwane, are reeling in shock after two brothers were brutally shot and killed by a thug on Saturday, 9 November, around 1.50am.
The community, which had enjoyed six months of peace without gunfire, is now gripped by fear and demanding justice for the slain brothers, who are described as good and loving.
One brother was found lying face down at the door of his shack, while the other was shot inside the toilet.
A 46-year-old community leader recounted hearing two gunshots and receiving a call from a neighbour about the tragedy.
“I rushed to the scene and tried calling an ambulance. Unfortunately, we lost our neighbours,” he said.

He also urged night patrols to resume to combat such crimes.
Another community leader, aged 40, expressed his pain over the incident.
“I heard three or four gunshots and never suspected they were killing our neighbours,” he said, noting the unusual silence of the past six months.
Tshwane District Police spokesman, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, confirmed that Atteridgeville police responded to a double murder report in Jeffsville.
“Upon arrival, police found bodies of two adult men. According to the wife of one of the deceased, her husband and his brother had just returned from a tavern. She heard a knock on the window and passed a roll of toilet paper to her brother-in-law, who went to the toilet,” Van Dyk said.
“As her husband opened the door, she heard a gunshot. She rushed to the door and upon opening it, heard a second shot. She saw a man standing at the gate, holding a firearm. The suspect then fled on foot.”
Van Dyk said the husband was found with a gunshot wound to the head, and his brother had been shot in the neck.
Tshwane Emergency Services declared both men dead at the scene. Atteridgeville Police have opened a double murder investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward, assuring confidentiality.
