Criminals made off with an undisclosed stash of money after bombing a cash van on Friday afternoon, 10 January, in Orlando East.
A white Mercedes-Benz rammed the van and started shooting, forcing it to stop.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed the incident, and said the cops are investigating a cash-in-transit robbery after an undisclosed amount of money was stolen in Orlando East, Soweto, on Friday, 10 January 2025, at about 5.30pm.
“The cash van was driving on Klipspruit Valley Road when a white Mercedes-Benz rammed the van and the thugs started shooting, forcing it to stop. Both the cash van and the backup vehicle were surrounded by suspects armed with rifles. They bombed the van and fled with the money in a brown Mercedes-Benz,” said Masondo.

“One security guard injured his leg while trying to take cover. One person was arrested after being found with the suspected stolen money,” he said.
