AfriForum hits back at President Cyril Ramaphosa for accusing the lobby group of dividing Mzansi.

AFRIKANER lobby group, AfriForum, responds to President Cyril Ramaphosa’s comments.

Ramaphosa accused the group of sowing division by meeting with the US and representatives of Donald Trump’s administration.

The lobby group described the accusations as “ironic,” claiming it is Ramaphosa and ANC leaders who are dividing South Africa.

Ramaphosa’s remarks were made on Thursday, 27 February, during an education summit in Gauteng.

AfriForum’s CEO Kallie Kriel insists Ramaphosa and the ANC must bear responsibility for creating division.

“It is Ramaphosa who signed the anti-Afrikaans Bela Act, a threat to Afrikaans cultural communities. He also signed the (Land) Expropriation Act and refuses to condemn slogans like ‘Kill the Boer’. He denies the existence of farm murders,” said Kriel.

Kriel mentioned letters from AfriForum, Solidarity, and the Solidarity Movement sent to the President regarding the Bela Act, the Expropriation Act, and tensions with the US, which were ignored.

He also said Ramaphosa’s spokesman Vincent Magwenya said the President would refuse discussions with these organisations.

“We won’t be deterred. We will continue to fight for the country’s interests and the Afrikaner community. These statements fuel our determination to get our message across. We will not be silenced by ‘cancel culture’ and look forward to the future.”

AfriForum and the Solidarity Movement are currently in the US for discussions with opinion leaders in Washington, DC, about South Africa’s reform policy.
