STILFONTEIN – Illegal mining has been thrust into the spotlight once more by the joint operation by police and North West authorities to bring zama zamas to the surface.

On Thursday community members retrieved a body from an abandoned shaft.
Many miners remain underground, without food and water.
Police Minister Senzo Mchunu held a stakeholder engagement session with community members.
