JOHANNESBURG – A new Afrikaans e-hailing platform called Wanatu launched in October 2024.
It’s being branded as the first Afrikaans-language transport service.
It aims to increase job creation while promoting Afrikaans language and culture.
The app grew from 10 to 30,000 users in just one month.
It has, however, received some criticism over its policy of hiring Afrikaans-speaking drivers only.
