Ngizwe Mchunu was allegedly dismissed by the SABC in October 2018 for leaking information about the station’s affairs to the media.

In a turn of events, he’s now rejoicing the resignation of his former boss, Ukhozi FM business manager, Sbongi Ngcobo.

Sbongi shocked many people on Wednesday, 13 November when she resigned. She was officially hired to the position of business manager in 2021, which previously known as station manager.

Ngizwe from Nkandla, northern KZN, who worked for Ukhozi FM for more than a decade, said this is the first time he is happy and celebrating someone’s downfall.

He said he’s grateful depression didn’t kill him when he faced hard times after his dismissal by Ukhozi FM.

Ngizwe said:

“Anyone will face the problems I faced. This is the first time I celebrate the death of a dog or the burning of someone’s house. I would have committed suicide if I was a weak person because of her decision. I wish she does not get a job anywhere. She lit the match stick and threw it in my father’s house. I was working for my children.”

Asked if he’d go back to Ukhozi FM after Sbongi’s departure, Ngizwe refused to answer.

When he was fired, it was alleged he had breached the confidentiality policy by sharing private station information publicly.

However, SABC spokeswomen at that time, Neo Momodu refused to reveal why he was fired.

“The SABC affirms that it respects the confidentiality of contracts entered into with its service providers, employees and independent contractors. We will therefore not discuss matters of any nature related to our stakeholder publicly,” she said at the time.

Daily Sun contacted Sbongi for comment on Thursday, 14 November, but her phone was off most of the time.
