TYLA is sweeping international awards shows one by one.
The 22-year-old Water hitmaker has won a Grammy Award, one MTV Video Music Awards, two BET Awards and took home three MTV Europe Music Awards (EMA) on Sunday, 10 November.
While many were focused on her being snubbed by the Grammy Awards and not getting a nomination, she disappointed haters when she won at the MTV EMAs held in Manchester, United Kingdom.
She had bagged four nominations and took three awards for Best Afrobeats Act, Best African Act and Best R&B Act.
When she collected her Best Afrobeats Act Award, Tyla thanked her fans and family for supporting her.
“I can’t believe it. All the nominees are insane. They’ve taken Afro-beats so far and I’m so honoured to be winning this award. It’s insane. But I want to thank my team, my family, the Tygers (her fan base) for voting for me.

“Thank you so much! Thank you to God, obviously and thank you to Afro-beat. It has opened so many doors for African music,” said Tyla.
Her sister, Sydney Seethal accompanied her to the award ceremony and went on stage with her. “Girl, I’m proud of you,” Sydney said to Tyla during her acceptance speech.
When she accepted her R&B Award, she said she was in disbelief.
“I’m just as shocked as you guys. Like, I don’t know what to do. I know it’s just so hard to categorise my music. I literally mix so many different genres into one, but R&B is a huge influence in my music, especially Aaliyah, she’s like one of my idols,” she said.
Her outfit at the event was an ode to Aaliyah.
Tyla also won four awards at the South African Music Awards (Sama) on Saturday, 2 November. She walked away with Best New Comer, Best Pop Album and Female Artist of The Year. She was also honoured with the International Achievement Award.
