THESE sistaz are doing it for kasi girls.
Kgosigadi Mmatlala waModau (24) and Kgosi Tshabalala run a sisterhood non-profit organisation called Botswalle in Kliptown, Soweto.
The foundation was started on 17 May 2004 to tackle the stigma surrounding spiritual and mental health while combating the loneliness epidemic by teaching girls that our humanity is interconnected.
Botswalle provides young girls with group sessions focused on spiritual support, group counselling, meals, monthly menstrual products, and theatre of the mind.
These activities collectively assist the girls in navigating their unique journeys.
The founder, Kgosigadi, said this is their way of giving back to the community.
“It’s an honour to journey with young girls who are discovering themselves while dreaming to heal through our programme. Kgosi and I work selflessly, nurturing their hopes and dreams with love, kindness, and compassion,” she said.

“I’m grateful for the path of healing. Mental health is a dynamic issue affecting us all, and being able to shine a light on it while the girls are young is invaluable. I love my work and the family I get to create through it,” she said.
Co-founder Kgosi said their aim is for the foundation to grow and operate throughout Mzansi.
“We aim to have a facility built that specialises in wellness, mental healing and youth development. We serve with different modes of healing, both indigenous and modern.
“As we expand, we want to see different fields of study coming together, for example, psychologists, social workers, therapists, lifestyle coaches etc., in the attempt to champion healing minds and creating a healthy lifestyle,” she said.
