Jackie said that during her session, she plans to explore the intersection of identity, culture, and social justice in South African literature.

“I believe these themes resonate deeply with audiences this year because they reflect the complexities and challenges of our contemporary world. As writers, we have a unique opportunity to explore these issues, spark important conversations, and inspire empathy and understanding,” she said.

“They provide a platform for writers to share their work, connect with readers, and engage in meaningful discussions about the issues that matter most. By showcasing the diversity and richness of South African literature, festivals like Franschhoek help to promote cross-cultural understanding, foster a sense of community, and inspire new generations of writers and readers.”
