The police in Mpumalanga have arrested two more suspects in connection with the torching of Putco buses last month. The suspects, aged 31 and 33, were arrested on Tuesday, 11 February in Siyabuswa.
At least four people have been arrested for the crime so far. Luthando Skosana (37) and Isaac Mabena (29) were arrested a few days after the incident. They have since made their court appearances at the Mdutjane Magistrates Court, facing charges of malicious damage to properties and business robbery.

Mdluli said the arrests by the assigned team were made as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident that occurred on 28 January, where 51 Putco buses were set on fire in Nkangala district.
“The suspects are believed to have been involved in the coordinated attack on the bus fleet, causing significant damage to the vehicles and posing a threat to public safety,” he said.
Both suspects are expected to appear at the Mdutjane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 12 February 2025. Mdluli said it’s expected that further details regarding their involvement in the crime will be revealed during the court proceedings.
