“I STAND by Danny Jordaan. He’s done good things since he took over Safa.”
These were the words uttered by Mama Joy Chauke in an interview with Daily Sun.
This comes after the state dropped theft charges against South African Football Association (Safa) President Danny Jordaan and his co-accused, Gronie Hluyo.
The duo, together with businessman Trevor Neethling, appeared in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in Palm Ridge.
Jordaan, Safa CFO Gronie Hluyo and former journalist Trevor Neethling were previously accused of fraud and theft amounting to R1,3 million.
They were alleged to have misused Safa funds to pay a PR firm to influence media narratives in Jordaan’s favour amid scandals.

Jordaan and his co-accused seek to have the case struck off the roll, arguing their arrest and charges were illegal.
The trio is out on R20 000 bail.
State advocate Moagi Malebati said the state has amended its charge sheet, leading to the withdrawal of the theft charges against Jordaan and Hluyo. However, charges of fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit fraud remain.
Jordaan also requested the state to relax his bail condition to allow him to travel to soccer events abroad, but the state refused.
The case is postponed to 15 August.

Staunch supporter Mama Joy said she believes all charges against Jordaan will be dropped.
“I’m confident because of the work Danny is doing. I support him and always will,” she said.
