KING Misuzulu’s wife stops wedding.
The king’s first wife, Queen Ntokozo Mayisela-Zulu, has filled urgent court papers to stop the king’s wedding. The papers indicate that the queen intends to make an application in court on Monday, 20 January.
The wife said the king can’t get married again while they’re still married in a civil marriage in community of property.
King Misuzulu is set to have a traditional wedding with Queen Nomzamo Myeni on 26 January.
But the queen approached the Pietermaritzburg High Court to stop the king from continuing with the wedding.
The court papers, which were filed on Friday, 10 January, and which Daily Sun have seen, stated: “I submit that I am currently married to the respondent (king) under civil marriage and our marriage is in community of property.

“I confirm that my husband has approached another woman and proposed marriage which the said woman has accepted. I further confirm that my husband has begun making arrangements to marry the said woman and has even set a date for the wedding ceremony and/or marriage. I humbly submit that the respondent (king) herein cannot enter into (a) a civil marriage, and/ or (b) s customary marriage whilst our civil marriage still subsists.”
The queen further said a person married under civil union can’t have two marriages simultaneously.
“I humbly submit that should the respondent (king) proceed with the arrangement and the ceremony as he intends, he will be committing bigamy and will also enter into a marriage that is null and void under South African law,” further read the court papers.
Daily Sun tried to contact King Misuzulu’s spokesman, Prince Simphiwe Zulu, but he kept cancelling the calls.
Melusi Xulu of Donda Attorneys confirmed to Daily Sun that they interdicted the king’s wedding.
“It is because he is married in a civil marriage, so he can’t have another marriage while his marriage still exists,” he said.
