POPULAR businesswoman and reality TV star Shauwn “Mam’Mkhize” Mkhize’s problems with SARS are far from over.
Her PSL team, Royal AM FC, is now under the curatorship of the South African Revenue Service (SARS).
The team’s funds were frozen, leading to the non-payment of salaries for players and staff in December 2024.
Jaco Venter has been appointed curator to oversee the club’s assets and operations. This followed the KZN Local Division of the High Court granting a preservation order and a search and seizure warrant in the case involving the Commissioner of SARS versus Shauwn Mkhize and others 2024.
In November 2024, SARS raided Mam’Mkhize’s property, including her luxury home in La Lucia, north of Durban. Now her soccer team, which is currently struggling in the Betway Premiership Soccer League, is under curatorship.
Mam’Mkhize confirmed the non-payment of the players, technical team, and staff, acknowledging the hardship this has caused and apologizing to those affected.

“As many are aware, the club is currently under curatorship following a preservation order obtained by SARS. While this has resulted in the temporary appointment of a curator, Mr Jaco Venter, to oversee the club’s assets and operations, we want to assure all stakeholders that Royal AM remains committed to resolving this matter as swiftly as possible.
“The club’s management team, led by our CEO and General Manager, has been working diligently with the curator to secure the necessary permission to release funds for payments. We have always upheld this principle despite the current challenges,” she said.
Before her issues with SARS, Mam’Mkhize was living a luxurious life, featuring in a reality TV show, Kwa Mam’Mkhize, on Mzansi Magic and Showmax.
While things were still going well, Mam’Mkhize and her son Andile Mpisane once shocked soccer fans by handing out hard cash to the Royal AM players live on TV as a reward, shortly after a win in a PSL match.
