“I’ve always wanted to do a portrait of Chris Brown, but I never thought I’d meet him. When I heard he was coming to South Africa, I knew it was the perfect time to make it happen,” he said.

Sandile described the unforgettable moment he presented his artwork to the international star, thanks to a connection facilitated by the Major League DJs.

“After his performance, the stadium started clearing out and I finally got to meet him. He told me how much he loved the art and gave me words of encouragement. It was a short but meaningful conversation that I’ll never forget,” he said.

The artist, who never attended formal art school, credits his success to determination and inspiration from other creatives.

“Everything I know, I taught myself. Seeing other artists achieve great things pushed me to perfect my craft,” he said.

Sandile also hopes to inspire future generations of artists from his hometown.

“I dream of opening art galleries in Polokwane where young artists can showcase their talent and draw inspiration. There’s so much untapped potential here, and I want to create spaces that allow it to flourish,” he said.

For Sandile, the recognition by Chris Brown not only solidifies his credibility, but also opens doors for a broader audience to appreciate his unique art style.

“It’s a dream come true and a moment of validation for everything I’ve worked for,” he said.
