TECH giant Google has revealed that the late Lesotho-born musician Malome Vector and the late actor, Mpho Sebeng, were the most searched people in Mzansi for the year 2024.
Google released the 2024 Year in Search (YIS) report for South Africa on Tuesday, 10 December.
Musician Shebeshxt ranked second in the top 10 music searches, followed by US singer Chris Brown. Multi-award-winning Tyla and the controversial P Diddy came in fifth place.
The world had another sad year, with the deaths of many prominent people, from actors to politicians. The late actor Mpho topped the list, followed by the death of English singer Liam Payne and local politician and former minister Pravin Gordhan, who captured the interest of Mzansi internet users. Veteran actress Connie Chiume and former minister Tito Mboweni also made the cut.

South Africa experienced one of its most interesting election years, with controversy surrounding the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on claims of vote rigging. This controversy put the IEC on top of the most searched events, followed by the United States elections, which captured the interest of many South Africans.
