A woman died in front of Intercape bus offices in Bellville, Cape Town.
LONG-DISTANCE bus passengers are shocked.
This after a passenger dropped dead in front of the Intercape bus company’s Bellville offices in the Western Cape on Saturday, 23 November.
According to a witness, the woman had just arrived from Joburg by bus with her partner.
“When she arrived, she left her bags with her partner and went to the toilet. When she returned, she asked if she could sit down since she felt dizzy. She then sat and fell on the ground while sitting. That’s how she died, just like that. The bus had just arrived, and some people were still taking their bags out of the trailer,” said a source.
A man at the Intercape offices, who came to fetch his wife when the incident happened, said the incident happened quickly.
“She was a young lady, probably in her early 30s. I wonder what could have led to her painful death. The husband was shocked and distressed as other passengers comforted him after the shocking incident,” said the man.

Intercape acknowledged the incident but clarified that the person wasn’t from their bus.
“We’re aware of the incident. She wasn’t a passenger on our bus, but a passenger on one of the cross-border buses,” said Intercape in response to Daily Sun’s query.
Police spokesman Colonel Malcolm Pojie confirmed that the incident occurred at about 2pm.
“Bellville police opened an inquest docket for further investigation after a 25-year-old woman collapsed after she disembarked from a passenger bus at a bus stop at Mable Street in Belville at about 2pm on Saturday, 23 November 2024. The cause of death is yet to be determined through an autopsy to be performed on the body,” Pojie said.
