Roads Agency Limpopo CEO Gabriel Maluleke has been shown the door amid scandal blast.
ROADS Agency Limpopo (RAL) CEO Gabriel Maluleke has been dismissed.
Maluleke was fired due to alleged corruption and misconduct.
His termination follows his suspension on 30 August 2024, when he faced charges of dishonesty, financial misconduct, negligence, and violations of certain sections of the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), among others.
A disciplinary hearing was conducted on Wednesday, 20 November, where Maluleke was found guilty on all charges, resulting in his immediate dismissal.
Public Works, Roads, and MEC Infrastructure Ernest Rachoene received a briefing from RAL’s accounting authority, Moses Tseli, on Thursday, 21 November, regarding the decision to terminate Maluleke’s contract.
Rachoene expressed support for Maluleke’s dismissal.
“Consequence management is one of the positive steps towards fixing Roads Agency Limpopo, which overcommitted R1,3 billion on projects,” said the MEC.

He said they’ve committed to the people of Limpopo that the government of the seventh administration will deliver services to improve the economy and the lives of the people.
“I, therefore, support all efforts towards focusing on the mandate that the people gave us and not distractions from anyone who seeks to derail the goal of government,” said Rachoene.
He said that RAL is taking other steps to rebuild the organisation, including investigating alleged acts of maladministration.
Democratic Alliance (DA) Limpopo spokeswoman for public works, roads and infrastructure Marie Helm said they’ve written to MEC Rachoene to undertake a review of the RAL budget and project management.
“RAL is severely under-resourced and has struggled for numerous years to fulfil its mandate. This is exacerbated by years of poor management,” she said.
